Something Smells Fishy:
Sharks Found Swimming In a New York Basement
A recent search of a New York state resident’s basement revealed more than a half dozen sharks swimming in an above ground pool. WTF?
Seven live sandbar sharks, as well as, two dead leopard sharks and one dead hammerhead shark, were discovered.
The home where the sharks were found is approximately 75 miles north of New York City.
The owner was suspected of harboring illegal wildlife stated the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
The DEC apparently captured the sharks “with ease” before doing their job measuring, tagging and blood testing them.
The sandbar sharks were then transported to the Long Island Aquarium.
The sandbar sharks are quite young as they range in age from one to three years old. Their sizes span one and a half feet to almost four feet. They can grow up to eight feet.
According to the DEC’s website, sandbar sharks are not currently on the endangered list but are considered an animal which is becoming an endangered species.
