There has been a fair amount of discussion about the natural frequencies of the Earth and music — which is 432 Hz — and how they have been manipulated and changed over the years.
I think there is reason for concern and I also think we should be very wary of anyone — including and especially scientists — who say that 440 Hz is ‘better.’
The Science Behind 432 Hz
Proponents of 432 Hz tuning claim it aligns with the natural frequencies found in nature, mathematics, and the universe.
The 432 Hz frequency has very interesting mathematical properties. Check this out;
- Mathematical harmony — 432 is divisible by many numbers (2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 16, 18, 24, 27, etc.) (This is similar to the mathematical symmetry that is found in the Fibonacci numbers and the Golden Ratio)
- Octave alignment — When tuned to 432 Hz, the C note (middle C) equals exactly 256 Hz, which is 2^8 – a power of 2. <— More mathematics.
- Schumann resonance: Some claim 432 Hz relates to Earth’s natural electromagnetic resonance of approximately 8 Hz (432 ÷ 54 = 8). Many musicians follow this pattern when making music.

The ‘Standardization’ of Tuning
I think it’s important to take a closer look at anything that has become ‘standardized’.
Standardization is a clear decision made by a small group of people that everyone else must follow because this small group of people said it should be that way.
In essence, whatever the ‘standard’ is becomes the accepted norm. Therefore it is rarely questioned. By consequence, we lose some of our freedom to think every time a ‘standard’ is put in place for us by someone we don’t know.
Many historians claim ancient instruments were tuned to frequencies related to 432 Hz. Others say the evidence for that is limited.
It’s interesting to note that….
Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) — Was a famous Italian composer who advocated for A=432 Hz, calling it a “scientific pitch.” This is why 432 Hz is sometimes called “Verdi’s A.”
1939 Standardization of 440Hz — The International Organization for Standardization eventually adopted A=440 Hz as the standard concert pitch in 1955, though it was already becoming standard by 1939.
I’d like to know why a group of people no one knows decided a less ‘natural’ frequency is better to have as a ‘standard’ frequency for music and tuning. Why do we need so much ‘standardizing’ by people whose criteria for those standards in unknown or poorly understood.
The good new is that the Interest in 432 Hz has had a resurgence since the 1980s-1990s. This was mainly due to the New aAge and alternative healing movements —> which I remember very well, as I was deep into this culture at the time.
Why People Choose 432 Hz
Millions of people report positive experiences with 432 Hz frequency atuned music and sounds.
How can something like this be ‘standardized’ when millions seem to prefer the more natural frequency of 432 Hz than the standardized 440 Hz?
You can experience 432 Hz in a variety of ways. Search for artists that use 432 Hz frequency in their music. You can look for them on streaming platforms like Soundcloud and YouTube.
Although I have not used this myself, there is pitch-shifting software that converts 440 Hz music to 432 Hz. You can do this with technology like AutoTune.
Additionally, if you or people you know play any instruments, they can tune them to A=432 Hz instead of A=440 Hz.

What is Sound Healing?
Sound healing is an ancient wellness practice that uses vibrations from instruments, voice, or even recorded frequencies for relaxation, meditation and ultimately healing.
432 Hz has become increasingly popular in sound healing modalities due to its calming properties and alignment with natural frequencies.
Below are some way as to how 432 Hz is used for healing;
- Tuned singing bowls and other instruments to 432 Hz
- Using 432 Hz binaural beats for brainwave entrainment
- Using 432 Hz music as background in any type of therapeutic environment
- Combining 432 Hz with other healing modalities such massage, Reiki, chiropractic etc.)
Ultimately, these are my opinions. It’s up to you what you’d like to believe.
Many millions of people have reported positive experiences with 432 Hz.
Yet, the science community still thinks the preference for 432 Hz is largely subjective and personal.
THIS is one of the biggest problems to ‘standardized’ anything. When millions of people have a benefit from something why would a miniscule group of people think they know better as to what the standard should be?
Why not use 432 Hz music and sounds yourself and see what happens. It might be subtle. It may be dramatic. However, the positive difference will almost certainly be felt —- which seems to be the problem when anything becomes ‘standarized’.
