As a narrator will live with their project for days, weeks and months sometimes, I tend to choose my projects quite carefully.
I want to like the book I’m narrating and I have to say, Brokenhearted For Christmas delivers.

Synopsis of The Story
The beautiful and bubbly Saraiya has a secret that she’s keeping from her friends. She has fallen head over heels in love with her summer vacation fling.
Saraiya thinks Christmastime is the perfect time to present him to the world.
When her guests arrive for her Christmas gathering, she gets more than what she bargained for.
Stuck between loyalty and love, is she willing to give up her fairy tale to make someone else’s Christmas wish come true?
After picking up the pieces of her broken heart and starting anew, Lacey solely focuses on her culinary career and her drama-free life.
However, the past comes back to haunt her, opening up old wounds and buried hurt.
Will she finally get the Christmas gift that she longed for all those years ago, or has too much time passed that she no longer desires the ultimate Christmas gift?
My Words About The Author’s Words
I like a good mystery/thriller. I’m a big fan of James Patterson.
However, as a voice over performer, like any performer, you’ve got to go outside your comfort zone.
And with Brokenhearted For Christmas, I’m so glad I did!
This is a delightful and somewhat suspenseful story about beautiful people with beautiful lives, looking for love like everyone else!
These people have heart.
Miz B made me believe these characters had a life of their own. I began to feel like I knew them. Like I’d worked with them at some point. The author makes it easy to believe these are your ‘besties’ as well.
The women are smart, beautiful and feisty. The interaction between the three leading women feels believable and familiar. Their personalities are distinctive and yet, complimentary, as all friendships are.
Without giving away any spoilers, the story starts with one couple in love and newly engaged, there’s a break up, then it veers off into several other (surprising) couplings and comes back around to a well thought through and highly satisfying ending!
And frankly, there are a few twists and turns in this story that I didn’t see coming. It left me wondering if the couple who was supposed to be together would actually get together.
It had me laughing out loud at times, too.
Casen, the leading man is… well, everything you want in a leading man.
A former pro athlete, tall, great looking and a successful businessman, Miz B has written him as a strong, passionate and considerate man. There’s no hint of aggression in him although you feeling like he has great inner strength and authority.
The kind of man every woman wants and needs.
The length of the book is novelette sized. Most readers could get through it in an afternoon.
It’s a great Christmas holiday read, as well as, an anytime vacation read or getaway.
And to be completely candid, as I was reading through it I thought it would be an easy transition into a screenplay. Miz B seems to agree. See what she has to say below in our email interview.

In the end, Brokenhearted for Christmas will warm your heart because the characters have so much of it.
Miz B is a long time writer who has only recently come on to the self publishing scene.
With this kind of story, she is welcomed with open arms. I can’t wait to see where the next romance leads!
Author Interview With MIZ B
On ‘Brokenhearted For Christmas‘
How did you come up with the idea for ‘Brokenhearted For Christmas’?
“The idea of Brokenhearted for Christmas was born a couple of years ago while I was driving and stuck in traffic on I-75 heading back home from Thanksgiving holiday. The idea of writing a holiday book came into my head, and it took off from there.”
How do you develop characters? Are they based on someone you know? Are they purely made up? Or some combination of both?
“All the characters were made up. Let’s say my imagination runs wild at times. I can’t explain it. LOL. The more I wrote, the more they came to life.My characters in my writings are purely made up, although I may throw in splashes of different personality traits of people I come across.”
Can you give us some idea of how you develop your ideas and how you go about fleshing out that initial stage into a full story?
“When an idea pops into my head, I immediately write it down. After that, it may sit and marinate for a spell. I periodically ponder where I want to go with the story and slowly add to the plot and the characters.”
Where do you take inspiration from?
“I take writing inspiration from that innate nagging that tells me to write.It won’t go away, so I have to listen to it. Also another author-friend, who told me I had what it took to be an author, inspired me to press forward into the literary world.”
Who are your favorite authors?
“I have a few favorite authors, but the ones who stick out in my head are Eric Jerome Dickey (R.I.P), Ashley Antoinette, Niobia Bryant, Nora Roberts, Diamond D. Johnson and I love some Tripp Ellis books!Ed Robinson, may he R.I.P., had an amazing series to his Breeze-character books. This list could go on and on because there are so many talented writers that I love.”
What are your future goals with your writing?
“My future writing goals is to continue to build my catalog.I have so many other stories that are sitting in notebooks screaming for me to finish.So 2025, hear me ROAR!
In addition to that, I would love to see my Christmas book made into a movie on Hallmark or similar outlet. That would be amazing! I’m a sucker for a sappy Christmas love tale!”
Can you think of one story that has impacted you and your life significantly?
“I’m a fiction reader so there is not one story that I can think of that impacted my life, but there have been stories that gave me a more worldly view such as those that take place in locations or cities that I’ve never been to like, Amsterdam, London, South America, etc.If the author vividly describes the locations, it makes me want to travel to those destinations.”
Why do you write?
“I write because it’s that one thing that I feel compelled to do. The pen and the paper calls! It’s as simple as that. I can’t explain where it comes from, but being that I’ve been a library nerd since I was a little girl, I’m sure that has a lot to do with it.”
Can you tell us a little about your writing practice in general?
“Ideas pop into my head at any given moment, and I have to jot them down or I’ll forget, then I beat myself up trying to remember.In order to write, I need a quiet place and a clear head. I force myself to focus, cause if I don’t, I’m all over the place and accomplish nothing.Once I start scribbling the words on paper, it takes flight. I can’t write for long periods of time.It’s an intermittent process throughout the day or week. I have to develop each new scene in my brain before I’m able to write it out.”
Any type of background on you and your writing that you are comfortable sharing would be great!
“I’m a new author on the scene, but people don’t know that I’ve been writing since the mid 90s and also ghostwrote a few books.It’s just taken this long for me to put myself out here and venture out into new territory.I’m accepting the challenge!
It actually feels great to do what I love. The words are from my heart, so I hope that when people read my works, they feel the energy and the soul behind my creations!
