The terms diversity and inclusion are hot button topics today.
Personally, I think they’ve got it wrong.
Diversity and inclusion have more to do with what’s on the inside and not so much about what we look like or agreeing with everyone around you.
My hope is that these Coaching Bites offer some insight and food for thought.

Hello,. In this three minute morning we’re going to be talking about diversity.
And I want to discuss what diversity means in a way that I think is really productive for you as an individual.
Perhaps in contrast to what we’re hearing about in the news and in our society.
When we look at diversity, it inherently suggests differences. This Earth is filled with a wondrous variety of diversity.
And when we’re talking about the human form, people are wonderfully diverse as well.
On a purely biological level, all the wonderful differences that human beings have make up only a very small part of our genetic material.
So when you look around the world, and how different everyone looks, we’re actually 99 percent the same, approximately.
It’s really only 1 percent of our genetic material that makes us look so different. And that’s a wonderful thing.
What I want to address today is diversity within the individual, meaning your unique point of view.
When you think of it, there is absolutely nobody like you.
You are truly unique.
In fact, no one has ever been quite like you before.
And there will be nobody quite like you afterwards.
And that’s an extraordinary realization, really.
The best way to express that is through your viewpoint.
We have certain ways of expressing ourselves through what we say and what we do, but those are only vehicles for the true nature of your unique viewpoint.
That’s something that I’ve noticed over the years.
I remember the early 2000s when you could type in a keyword in the search engines, and Google would come back with all sorts of weird and wonderful websites all from the same keyword.
Now, 20 years later, all the search engines bring back homogenized results, yet many people will talk about relevance, that all the search engines want to do is be relevant to the seeker.
Well, sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know and want to explore.
That’s where your unique viewpoint comes in.
So, I would encourage you to look at your unique thought process and how you can hone that and own that and make it even more yours.
Because I think that’s where the true diversity comes in.
Really knowing who you are, and then being able to decide how you want to share that.
Your unique, wonderful, beautiful opinion is all yours, and you can decide to share it or not.
So, I know what helped me in starting to understand my own thought process better was to come into situations neutral.
Just listening to what a person had to say, and then watching my own thoughts from there.
Let your intuition lead you to a fuller sense of yourself.
When that happens, you have more to share. When you do share it, it will be more unique.
And thereby, we will have more diversity in our culture and our society.
What we look like is just a small part of who we really are.
Most of our experience here on this earth, as a human being, happens within us, inside of us.
Lots of things go on every day, but it gets filtered through our physical body, and we interpret it with our internal faculties to take experiences and transmute them into knowledge and understanding.
Thank you for reading. I wish you a very prosperous day.
