Today I’m going to talk about motivation, and how to find it, and how to develop it.
First, let’s take a quick look at what actually is motivating to people.
Of course, there are many different ways to become motivated.
People are motivated by money, or love, or status, or appearance. But those are consequences of the why someone is motivated.
The behaviors and the actions always come last.
There has to be an energy first, and then a thought process, and then actions and behaviors.
So, to become motivated then, you have to ask yourself, what gets you excited? What makes you happy to do? And it doesn’t have to be logical.
You don’t have to explain why you get happy and excited about doing something.
You just need to know that that’s the case. So identify that first, and then look at the why.
So what is it about this particular situation, or thing you’re engaging in, why do you find that interesting?
Start to identify the logical reasons within you that get you excited about this.
For example, some people get very excited about numbers, and calculus, and algebra, and balancing those numbers.
That makes sense to some people, and they get excited about seeing all the numbers add up, and finding the answers to equations, that kind of thing.
So, that would dictate a certain road to go down. They’re motivated by how numbers add up. How they all become balanced.
So, someone who gets excited about things like that might look at going into a field like accounting and banking.
And then from there, to stay motivated, they start refining what they really enjoy doing.
The more specific they can be, the more they can keep their motivation going.
So that’s step one, finding what gets you excited.
Number two is the thought process, the reason behind it, the logical reasons why you get so excited about engaging in something.
And then number three is the actual doing of it.
First of all, say, as a hobby, and seeing how that goes, and starting to understand the process.
Now you’re starting to develop a system that will not just keep you motivated now, it will into the future. because systems and processes have an end result.
When the end result is something that’s satisfying to you, you will continue to keep doing those processes and systems and refining them.
That way you keep getting better and better results and then keep that going, because it’s an ongoing process.
Motivation, and the need for it, is continuous.
Some days you’re going to feel more motivated than others and that, again, is part of the process.
It’s very important to know that what you’re working on has an impact and has value, both for others and yourself.
And that, in large part, will keep you motivated.
It all starts with what you’re really, truly interested in and excited about.
So, I hope that gives you some food for thought. Thank you for listening, and I wish you a very prosperous day.
